I have worked in the NHS for over 15 years in adult mental health, including secondary care services and for an IAPT (improving access to psychological therapies) service. For over 5 years I have worked in Clinical Health Psychology. I have provided, often trauma focussed, therapy in a specialist pain management service, as well as psychology interventions to help with adjustment. I now work with patents who have experienced complications from surgical procedures (who often have chronic pain & trauma symptoms and/or adjustment difficulties), as well as in an NHS staff wellbeing psychology service. Within this staff wellbeing psychology service I provide specific work for consultant doctors & surgeons and I also support a Peer to Peer Trauma Network within the trust for when difficult incidents occur. As part of this work, I provide specific training around psychological trauma. Staff work can be team/group based interventions tailored to their specific needs as well as individual therapy and clinical supervision.
I have regular supervision and I supervise other psychologists/psychotherapists. I also facilitate EMDR peer supervision groups within the NHS trust where I work. I am passionate about EMDR and supporting others to develop their skills with this intervention.
I have several years experience in mental health research and have been involved in trials as a team manager, a researcher/field worker, a co-applicant or as a Principal Investigator. I also co-ordinated the 'Improvement & Innovation in Psychological Therapies in Primary Care' Health Integration Team funded by Bristol Health Partners.
